Full and Partial Dentures

Full and Partial Dentures

What are dentures?

Dentures are removable dental appliances that are used to replace missing teeth and the surrounding tissues. They can be made of acrylic, resin, or chrome cobalt, depending on your dental needs and budget. Dentures can be either full or partial, depending on how many teeth are missing.

Full dentures

Full dentures are used when all the teeth in the upper or lower jaw are missing. They consist of a flesh-colored acrylic base that fits over the gums and supports a full set of replacement teeth. Full dentures can be held in place by suction or denture adhesive.

Partial dentures

Partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain in the upper or lower jaw. They consist of replacement teeth attached to a metal or acrylic base that fits around the remaining teeth like a puzzle piece. Partial dentures can be held in place by metal clasps that attach to the remaining teeth or with dental adhesive.

Benefits of dentures

Dentures offer several benefits, including:

  • Restoring your ability to chew and speak properly
  • Improving your facial structure and profile by filling out your cheeks and lips
  • Preventing your remaining teeth from shifting out of place
  • Restoring your smile and improving your confidence
  • Distributing the forces in your bite evenly across all your teeth
